The three main selling points of the app, as told by the ZipApp creator, are that anyone can build it, you get the full source code, and the app can link to social media such as Facebook Twitter and You Tube.
Once set up, the apps can be modified and extended and can be added to the Windows Store to be sold or given away.
Here is what ZipApp have to say for themselves:
“Whilst working on a number of early Windows 8 projects I noticed companies often had a base set of features that they were trying to implement, it seemed to me that you could build a tool that could generate a decent base app that would comply with the store rules and give developers a head start to making their apps a reality... Essential (sic) that’s what ZipApp is.”
We haven’t yet used ZipApp at Eastpoint Software yet but we think it looks useful – what do you think of it?
